You can use ScanSnap Home to recognize text in PDF files. After text recognition, you can select or search text. Text recognition requires configuring settings to make the PDF searchable.

Create a profile with the following settings and scan with the profile:
In the [Edit profiles] window, click the [Detailed settings...] button and then select [Convert to Searchable PDF] in the [File format] tab.

How to convert an existing PDF file into a searchable PDF file
Select the PDF data you want to perform text recognition on and select [Convert to searchable content data record].
