Take either countermeasure to connect the ScanSnap again.

This has been fixed by ScanSnap Manager V7.2L21 or later. “Could not use the ScanSnap” may appear while ScanSnap is connected by USB and it becomes unable to connect by USB.(*1) For models other than ScanSnap SV600 or ScanSnap S1300i Even after closing this window by pressing Close button, the error appears again when USB cable is unplugged and plugged in or power off and on the ScanSnap. |
This issue does not occur with Wi-Fi connection. Take the following countermeasure to connect the ScanSnap again.

3 | ScanSnap Manager | If ScanSnap SV600 and other ScanSnap scanners are connected to the computer with USB connection and the computer resumes from sleep mode, the following error message may appear and it may not be able to connect to ScanSnap other than ScanSnap SV600.

This problem does not occur when ScanSnap other than the ScanSnap SV 600 is connected with Wi-Fi connection. If this occurs, use one of the following workarounds to connect to ScanSnap.

This problem has been detected in the following cases.
- When a computer and a ScanSnap is connected by USB (and the scanner is turned on).
- After a computer goes in hibernation (sleep) while connecting to ScanSnap and resumes from hibernation (sleep).
- When switching to connect another ScanSnap as follows.

Connect two ScanSnap units by USB cable to a computer, and switch a ScanSnap to connect from the [Select a scanner] list in the scan window.

Switch a ScanSnap to connect by disconnecting and connecting the USB cable from a ScanSnap to another ScanSnap.

Follow the steps below to restart the WIA service.

Search for “Services” from the Start menu to run it.

Right-click Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) and select Restart.

The following screen appears. Restarting WIA is completed when the processing is completed.

Ensure that the status for Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) is Running.
