As of October 21 2024, the following problems have been detected with ScanSnap Home on Windows 11 version 24H2.
- Cannot crop a desired area.
- Cannot perform text recognition.
- Wireless setup fails.
- Cannot insert a page to a file.
The problems are now under investigation to identify the cause and workarounds.
This FAQ article will be updated when an update is available.

Cannot crop a desired area.
Problem Description
An unintended area will be selected when specifying a range of an image to be cropped on the ScanSnap Home viewer window .

Cannot perform text recognition.
Text recognition cannot be performed to a JPEG image data created with ScanSnap after it has been edited and saved on the ScanSnap Home viewer window .
Problem Description
- Selecting [Convert to searchable content data record ] fails with the message of “The image is not the one scanned with the ScanSnap and therefore cannot be processed.”
- Even when the document type is set to Business Cards or Receipts, the icon is masked in the content data record view, preventing user from marking the range of characters to perform text recognition .
- Even when changing the document type , text recognition will not be performed again, which will not update a summary of three lines on the content data record list view or an item of content data record information on the content data record view .
Wireless setup fails.
Problem Description
When you set up a ScanSnap without using a USB cable, Windows shows the message of “Let Windows and apps access your location?”. If you do not allow ScanSnap Home to access your location, then the setup fails with the message of “A Wi-Fi connection is not established on this computer.”
Workaround
Please allow ScanSnap Home access to your location with the following procedure.
- Click the [Start] button on Windows.
- Click the [Settings] icon.
- Go to [Security & Privacy] > [Location].
- Enable [Location services].
Cannot insert a page to a file.
Problem Description
- Under the following conditions, a page will not be properly inserted on the ScanSnap Home viewer window by dragging the file over the destination or by using [Page Insert].
Page to insert: A PDF file which was created with [Color mode] set to [B&W]
Destination: A JPEG file which was created with ScanSnap
- Under the following conditions, a page will not be properly inserted on the ScanSnap Home viewer window by copying/cutting and pasting.
