While ScanSnap is capable of outputting files in both JPEG and PDF formats, the compression format for both JPEG and PDF files is JPEG compression.
Compression levels can be set in a range of 1 to 5 in the Settings/Compression menu (for "Color", "Gray" or "Automatic color detection" mode). "Compression rate 1" is the lowest compression rate and level 5 is the highest. "Compression rate 5" compression provides the minimum file size.
ScanSnap supports color high compression in addition to the above settings. Color high compression outputs PDF/color images. (Except fi-5110EOX and Windows® only)
ScanSnap digitizes black and white documents into PDF file format only. The compression type is MMR (Windows®) / ZIP (Mac), and the compression rate is fixed.
For more file size related information, Refer to"How large are ScanSnap created image files?".
[Note]
- If the [CardMinder] is selected in the [Application] drop-down list on the [Application] tab, the compression rate is set to 1 out of 5 Compression rate as [Compression] tab will be gray out.
- If the B&W is selected in the [Color mode] drop-down list on the [Scanning] tab, the compression rate is set for B&W as [Compression] tab will be gray out.
