The slight up and down movement of documents being fed through ADF scanners, such as ScanSnap iX500, S1500 and so on, or the scanning of creased documents may distort the lines appearing in created images. Please note that while document type (thickness, fiber direction) or feeding direction (portrait, landscape) can noticeably distort images, such distortions are unavoidable, due to the nature of ADF scanners.
- Distortion is more likely to occur when scanning thick and hard documents at higher speeds (ie. Scanning at "Normal" or "Better" when selecting the "Image quality" "Scanning" tab)
- Distortion is more likely to occur when scanning thin document at lower scanning speeds (ie, Scanning at "Best" or "Excellent" when selecting the "Image quality" "Scanning" tab.)
- Distortion is most likely to occur at the tail end of documents that are being scanned.
[How to reduce distortion]
Fully extend the ADF cover extension and chute prior to placing the document for scanning.

Case of S1300i / S1300 / S300 / S300M
Try changing the image quality using ScanSnap Manager's "Scanning" tab.
If the problem persists, try turning the document upside down and scan once more.
