[BOOT MODE] is displayed on the touch panel of ScanSnap.

Connect a ScanSnap to a computer via a USB cable and update the firmware.

Windows

1. Display the main window of ScanSnap Home on the computer.
    
2. Select [Settings] in the menu > [Preferences] to display the preferences window.
    
3. Check that the ScanSnap you are using is in the list of ScanSnap units located in [Scanner information] in the [Scanner] tab.
   
   - When the ScanSnap you are using is displayed
   Select the ScanSnap you are using, and click the [Update] button.
   
   - When the ScanSnap you are using is not displayed
   Click the [Add] button to add the ScanSnap to be used.
   During the process of adding the ScanSnap, the firmware update is also performed.

If the firmware cannot be updated, contact a local subsidiary near you.

macOS

1. Display the main window of ScanSnap Home on the computer.
   Click the [ScanSnap Home] icon in the application list that appears when you click Launchpad in the Dock to start ScanSnap Home.
    
2. Select [ScanSnap Home] on the menu bar > [Preferences] to display the preferences window.
    
3. Check that the ScanSnap you are using is in the list of ScanSnap units located in [Scanner information] in the [Scanner] tab.
   
   - When the ScanSnap you are using is displayed
   Select the ScanSnap you are using, and click the [Update] button.
   
   - When the ScanSnap you are using is not displayed
   Click the [Add] button to add the ScanSnap to be used.
